As far as Dr Fontes can remember, he’s always wanted to become a surgeon, but didn’t necessarily want to become a Dental Surgeon… however, he got lucky!

José started his dental training at Fernando Pessoa University in Porto, Portugal in 2001 and soon realised that oral surgery would be the area of specialty for him. After graduating from dental school in 2006, he decided to pursue his studies with a Master’s degree in Oral Surgery. In addition, Dr Fontes is a member of the International Team for Implantology (I.T.I), regularly attending their meetings and congresses. He is also trained and qualified with the Society for the Advancement for Anaesthesia in Dentistry (SAAD) because he is aware that going to the dentist may cause some stress to his patients and therefor, is committed in making this experience the best possible by enhancing his treatments with sedation.

Dr Fontes can provide dental implant treatments, LASER treatments, minimally invasive surgery to treat gum recession (Pinhole Surgery), Lumineers (minimally invasive veneers) and if you are a nervous patient, sedation can be provided.

A former colleague and professor of Dr Fontes once said, “The Oral Surgeon profession has the advantage of being in constant evolution; the search for new and improved ways of offering quality treatments demands constant learning and growth to provide the most recent techniques and materials.”.

Being recognised for his work is one of the best feelings for José. He hopes to be able to help you restore your smile.

José’s hobbies are: Cinema, books, gym, rock climbing and since he is also a “petrol head” he has a passion for cars and motorbikes. He can speak: English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
